Approved Insurance Repairer Status in Western Australia
Approved repairer status is not a directory listing a workshop can pay to appear in. Insurers audit equipment, technician qualifications, repair methods, paint systems, turnaround times and customer outcomes before adding a workshop to their network, and that status is reviewed on an ongoing basis rather than granted once.
RAC
Approved Repairer
Your claim can be directed to us without additional approval steps.
Allianz
Approved Repairer
Estimates are submitted in the format Allianz already accepts.
Tokio Marine Nichido
Approved Repairer
We deal with the insurer directly on your behalf.
Subaru
Preferred Repairer
Repairs follow manufacturer methods and specifications.
We also hold the MRB268 motor vehicle repair business licence, Green Stamp Advantage environmental accreditation, and membership of the Motor Trade Association of WA.
Where your insurer authorises the repairer, the insurer generally takes responsibility for the quality of the workmanship and materials, which gives you a clear path if anything is not right.
How Your Insurance Smash Repair Works
Most Perth drivers go through this once or twice in a lifetime, so the sequence is rarely familiar.
1
Lodging the Claim
You report the accident to your insurer and receive a claim number.
Who handles it: You
2
Booking the Estimate
You bring the vehicle to us, and we prepare a full repair estimate.
Who handles it: You and Gino's
3
Assessment
Your insurer reviews our estimate against the damage on the vehicle.
Who handles it: Gino's and your insurer
4
Authorisation
Your insurer approves the repair method, the parts and the cost.
Who handles it: Your insurer
5
Repair
Panel work, paint, refinishing and reassembly are carried out.
Who handles it: Gino's
6
Quality Check
We inspect the finished work before the vehicle goes anywhere.
Who handles it: Gino's
7
Collection
You settle your excess and collect the vehicle.
Who handles it: You and Gino's
Your claim number unlocks everything, so your insurer is the first call to make. Authorisation is where timeframes are most often decided, because an estimate prepared in the format your insurer expects generally moves through assessment faster than one that raises questions.
How to Request Gino's as Your Insurance Repairer
Whether you can nominate your own repairer depends on your policy rather than on any Western Australian law. Many comprehensive policies include choice of repairer as a standard feature, some offer it as a paid optional extra, and others work through the insurer's own network.
Helpfully, if you are insured with RAC, Allianz or Tokio Marine Nichido, the question largely resolves itself. We are already inside those networks, so you can ask for Gino's by name when you lodge your claim and your insurer can direct the work to us. If you drive a Subaru, our preferred repairer status does the same through the manufacturer's channel.
If your insurer is not on that list, tell them you would like your vehicle repaired at Gino's Panel & Paint in South Fremantle and give them our details. Many insurers will accept a nominated repairer on request, particularly a licensed workshop with an established record.

What You Pay on an Insurance Smash Repair
In a standard comprehensive claim, your excess is generally the only amount you pay towards the repair, whatever the total repair costs. Excess amounts vary between policies, and a few factors change what you actually pay:
✓
Your basic excess, set by your policy, typically ranging from a few hundred dollars to well over a thousand.
✓
Additional excesses that may apply to younger or inexperienced drivers.
✓
Whether the other driver was at fault, since some insurers waive or refund the excess where fault is established elsewhere and the other driver's details are known.
✓
Any optional excess reduction you paid for when taking out the policy.
For smaller damage, it is worth comparing your excess against a private repair estimate before you claim. Where a bumper scuff or a single-panel repair would cost less than your excess, paying privately may work out better and avoids a claim on your record. We are happy to quote on either basis so you can compare the two honestly before you decide.
Faster Insurance Repairs With Rapid Repair
The part of a claim that frustrates people most is rarely the paperwork. It is the wait, and the not knowing.
Rapid Repair is our answer, and it is uncommon in this market:
✓
Symach Flydry curing technology, which removes much of the drying time that traditionally sits between stages of a repair
✓
1Q1 workflow software, cutting up to 65% from several parts of the repair process
✓
SMS updates at each stage, so you are not left calling to find out where things stand
Fewer stationary hours means your vehicle spends less time in our workshop and more time back with you. On insurance work in particular, where an assessment sits between the estimate and the start of repairs, that visibility changes how the whole claim feels.
Insurance Smash Repairs Across Perth's Southern & Western Suburbs
Our workshop is at 228 Hampton Road, South Fremantle, and we handle insurance repairs for drivers across Fremantle, North Fremantle, Beaconsfield, White Gum Valley, Hilton, Palmyra, Bicton, Attadale, Melville, Applecross, Booragoon, Kardinya, Willagee, Hamilton Hill, Spearwood, Coogee and the wider Cockburn and Melville areas.
Because we are an approved repairer for the major insurers operating in Western Australia, distance is rarely an obstacle. Drivers from across the Perth metropolitan area bring insurance work to us, and your insurer can direct a claim to our workshop wherever in Perth the accident happened.

Why Perth Drivers Choose Gino's for Insurance Repairs
Family-Owned in South Fremantle Since 1973
Two generations in the same workshop, with the reputation that comes from repairing Perth vehicles for over fifty years.
No Shortcuts on Insurance Repair Work
Unlike fixed-price repairers who may do the minimum, we carry out the full repair the vehicle needs, including the structural and safety work behind the panels that never shows.
Colour Matching That Holds Up in Daylight
Factory paint systems and meticulous finishing, so a repaired panel matches the ones beside it outdoors, not just under workshop lights.
One Point of Contact Through Your Claim
We deal with your insurer, the assessor and the parts suppliers, and you deal only with us.

Insurance Smash Repair FAQs
Do I pay my insurance excess to Gino's or to my insurer?
This varies between insurers. Some collect the excess directly when you lodge the claim, while others ask the repairer to collect it when you pick up your vehicle. Your insurer will confirm which applies to your claim, and we will tell you clearly at the time of booking so there are no surprises on collection day.
Will making a smash repair claim increase my car insurance premium?
Claims history is one of several factors insurers consider at renewal, so a claim may affect your premium. The effect generally depends on the insurer, the circumstances of the accident and whether you were at fault. This is a question for your insurer rather than your repairer, and a fair one to ask before deciding whether to claim on smaller damage.
Is a courtesy or loan car available while my insurance smash repairs are done?
Some policies include a hire car following an accident, either as a standard benefit or an optional extra, so check your policy wording or ask your insurer when you lodge the claim. Talk to us about what we can arrange at the time of booking and we will let you know what is available for your repair.
How long do insurance smash repairs take in Perth?
Timeframes depend on the extent of the damage, parts availability and how quickly your insurer authorises the work. Light cosmetic damage can turn around in days, while structural repairs take longer. Our Rapid Repair process removes a substantial amount of the drying and handling time between stages, and we will give you a realistic estimate once the damage has been assessed rather than an optimistic one.
Do I need to report the accident to WA Police before lodging an insurance claim?
You can lodge your claim without waiting for a police report, but you should report the crash where it meets the Western Australian reporting requirements, which generally means injury to any person or total property damage above $3,000. Many insurers will ask for the police incident number, so reporting early tends to make the claim smoother.
Can I choose Gino's if my insurer has its own repairer network?
Often, yes. We are an approved repairer for RAC, Allianz and Tokio Marine Nichido, so if you are insured with any of those you can request us by name. If your insurer is not one of them, ask whether your policy includes choice of repairer, and give them our details either way. Many insurers will accept a nominated licensed repairer on request.
